folk artist interview

I interviewed my next door neighbor, Teresa Simpkins.  She has no formal training in art.  she likes to do her art because it allows her to express her emotions and her moods at times.  she usually makes sculptures of animals and bugs.  she says that the meaning to these pieces of art are to show that these creatures exist and that when the world becomes more industrialized, these creatures lose their homes.  it's sad to know that no one really knows or really dont care about these creatures that live coexistent in this world.  I also do art work that expresses current issues in the world.  for one she did a painting of a skeleton with the world behind it and a broken penny in it's hand.  she said that this painting represents all the poverty in the world and that it has caused hurt and death among those who couldn't survive.
